Carolyn Walter - piccolo, flute, clarinet, bass clarinet, tenor & bari saxophones, vocals
Carolyn Walter is the fully-grown version of one of those nerdy kids who used to play clarinetin your highschool band -- of the saddest variety, the kind that even practiced during lunch. Left untreated over the years, her malignant addiction to clarinet grew to include other members of the woodwind family. When it came time for this unassuming young woman to choose a course of study in college, her affliction forced her to eschew a balanced life and instead seek out a bachelor of music degree at SF State.
To this day, Ms. Walter continues her pursuit of this delusional madness, performing all over the bay area on soprano and bass clarinets, flutes, saxophones, and (more recently) bassoon. In addition to miRthkon performances, you can catch Carolyn playing in a variety of other projects including the Montclair Women's Big Band, Michelle Alexander's LikeLove, and orchestras for local theater companies including Berkeley YMTC, Berkeley Playhouse and the Shotgun Players.
Perhaps the most tragic thing of all about Ms. Walter's career would be her penchant for music education. Shamelessly aiding and abetting the corruption of today's compulsive youth seems to come naturally to her; we find this particularly reprehensible as the last thing the throng of good consumer-drones needs is an introduction to the endless, life-long hunger for music.
Her car is named Fafner.
